Former Huddersfield Giants coach Andrew Farrell sadly passes away

Huddersfield Giants have released a statement expressing the news that their former coach Andrew Farrell has sadly passed away.

Farrell coached with the Giants under Ian Watson last season and was a key man in helping the Giants return to the playoffs.

The Giants finished third in the table before losing in the playoffs but it was their best league finish in many years, while they also made it through to the Challenge Cup Final.

In a statement posted to the club website the Giants announced: “Huddersfield Giants are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of former coach and friend, Andrew Farrell.

“Huddersfield born and bred Andrew was known well by many in and around the club. He was a part of Ian Watson’s coaching staff last season specialising in wrestling and contact training for the team.

“The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
