Former Castleford Tigers and Leigh Centurions man issues come get me plea

We’re in that stage of the year where, other than there being focus on the World Cup, there is a massive focus on recruitment which sparks something of a merry-go-round.

One man looking for a new club is winger Jy Hitchcox. He started his career at Wests Tigers before making his move to England for the first time joining Featherstone in 2015 scoring 15 tries in 25 games which earnt the attention of Castleford in 2016.

He spent three years at the Jungle scoring twice on debut before playing in the 2017 Grand Final after Zak Hardaker was left out after testing positive for a banned substance culminating in Greg Eden’s move to fullback and Hitchcox coming onto the wing.

Sadly for Hitchcox, the Tigers lost 24-6 and after the conclusion of the 2018 campaign he joined Bradford after scoring tries for fun at Odsal on loan in 2018.

After a year there he helped Toulouse’s promotion bid in 2021 scoring around a try per game before joining Leigh going into 2022.

However, with the Centurions vast recruitment, he’s not had much of a look in at Leigh and is now looking for a new club going into 2023 issuing a come get me plea on Twitter last night.

He said: “Right then which UK club needs an outside back?”

His departure does alleviate some of the pressure on Leigh in terms of quota spots with the Centurions needing to move on some of their overseas players after promotion to Super League.
