Forgotten star returns to the field ahead of Super League return

Injuries are sadly a part of sport, especially a sport as tough and fierce as rugby league.

Warrington Wolves certainly understood that at the end of last year as they lost two of their top stars to ACL injuries.

First Joe Philbin went down and he was followed by promising youngster Connor Wrench.

This only exacerbated a difficult season for the Wolves but they have started the season not missing the centre though some Warrington fans want to see him back in the centres to offer the Wolves more strike.

Wrench made his return to the playing field this weekend but not for the first team as he starred for the reserves in a comprehensive win over London Broncos.

Wrench scored twice on his return to the field and could be back in the first team before long which would be timely given the loss of Matty Nicholson for 10 weeks.

This could allow Peter Mata’utia to move into the back row to cover Nicholson and allow Wrench back in the centres.

Mata’utia has done well in the backrow this season so this could be a good solution for the Wolves.
