Ford lands touchline ban for verbally abusing match official

James Ford has made Ben Johnstone his fourth new signing for 2020.

York City Knights head coach James Ford has copped a two-match touchline ban for foul and abusive language towards a match official.

Ford pleaded guilty to the Grade D charge and has also picked up a £75 fine.

The York chief will be sat in the stands and won’t be allowed in the dressing rooms for the upcoming matches against North Wales Crusaders and West Wales Raiders.

Speaking to the York Press shortly after receiving the two-game ban, Ford said: “I feel I’ve let the boys and the club down,”

“We all mistakes and in the heat of the moment and when under pressure I made a mistake. I’m very keen to learn from that.

“It’s the first time in 20 years in rugby league that I’ve been at a disciplinary hearing and I don’t intend to go back.”
