Flight company Ryanair shows interest in Super League following Hull KR’s win over Warrington Wolves

It may seem like one of the most bizarre statements of 2022 so far, but just when you thought rugby league this season couldn’t surprise you again, it surprises you again.

Hull KR have picked up results in recent weeks under interim coach Danny McGuire, beating Wakefield Trinity and then overcoming Warrington Wolves at the weekend.

It has to be said that McGuire is doing a fantastic job, inspiring his Robins players to get within a whisker of a play-off spot once more.

Rovers currently sit in seventh, but on points difference only as the Salford Red Devils occupy sixth, however, KR are now above rivals Hull FC following a dismal 46-18 thrashing against the Castleford Tigers last week.

McGuire will, of course, hand the reins over to new boss Willie Peters at the end of 2022, with the former Leeds Rhinos and KR halfback taking the reins as assistant coach having signed a new three-year deal last month.

This Rovers side has some incredible talent, not least the likes of Mikey Lewis and Jordan Abdull, but one man that perhaps doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves when he does play is winger Ethan Ryan.

The winger has been in hot form since returning to the first-team from injury and he was in fine form again at the weekend against Warrington.

One of his tries in particular has hit the headlines from that game with KR taking snippets from its official TikTok account to tweet:

That brought attention from Irish flight company Ryanair who subsequently tweeted: “Good evening ladies and gentlemen this is Ethan your captain, speaking.”

Of course, KR replied, saying: “Our new favourite airline @Ryanair #UpTheRobins.”

With a major international company such as Ryanair tweeting about rugby league, it can only be good for the sport with a number of fans recognising this following the interaction.
