Fixture update as COVID-19 threatened play

Hull FC have been cleared to return to training today (Wednesday) by the sport’s Multiple Cases Group, meaning that at this stage Friday’s Betfred Super League fixture against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan can still go ahead as scheduled.

The club had been instructed to suspend training and shut down their training facility last Thursday after a number of positive tests for Covid-19, forcing the postponement of their fixture against Warrington Wolves scheduled for Sunday (August 8).

Two full rounds of PCR testing have since been undertaken by the club, reporting just one positive result for a junior member of the first-team squad.

Multiple Cases Group have agreed with the club that additional lateral flow testing will be undertaken in addition to the routine testing required by all clubs prior to traveling to France.

Despite a number of players and staff being unavailable to participate in this weekend’s fixture, Hull FC remain committed to fulfilling the fixture against Catalans Dragons and the club is taking all steps within its power to prepare and field a team on Friday despite the challenges presented by Covid-19.
