Yesterday it was announced that Lachlan Coote will be retiring at the end of the year.
Coote joined Super League in 2019 replacing Man of Steel Ben Barba as St Helens fullback taking on the number 23 shirt and helping guide the Saints to only their second Grand Final in 13 years.
He then went on to be key as St Helens won three titles in a row and won the Challenge Cup.
In 2022 he joined Hull KR on a two year deal and has been superb except for the spells when he has had to deal with head injuries.
As Hull KR look like real title contenders in 2023, he is set to finish his career at the end of this season but who will the Robins turn to in order to replace him.
Niall Evalds
A top fullback in his final year at Castleford Tigers, he will be a priority for the Tigers in terms of retention but he would be a brilliant replacement for Coote and a statement signing.
Tui Lolohea
Another outstanding fullback in the final year of his deal, he will again be hard to wrestle away from his current club Huddersfield Giants. A player towards the end of his career, he would be a similar signing to Lachlan Coote.
Arthur Mourgue
Yet another brilliant fullback who is available and will be difficult to sign from Catalans Dragons. A young and exciting player he would be a superb signing.
Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e
The Robins do have an exciting young fullback of their own contracted to the club and is expected to shine in the future. Is it his time?
NRL signing
Failing a Super League signing, the Robins could turn to the NRL and there have already been rumours that the Robins are already looking in this area.
