Five Super League stars charged by the match review panel

Round 18 of the Betfred Super League has been and gone and it was a weekend of huge results concluding with a vital win for Leeds Rhinos away at Salford Red Devils in the play-off race whilst Wigan Warriors were stunned by Wakefield Trinity in a huge twist in the relegation battle.

As Wakefield won, Castleford Tigers lost to Leigh Leopards with the gap between the two now down to just two points.

Elsewhere, Hull FC came up with a vital win in the Hull derby over Hull KR, Huddersfield Giants stunned Catalans Dragons and Warrington Wolves and St Helens served up a classic on Friday night.

A great weekend of rugby but it was also a fiery one too with a few incidents in the Warrington came.

Meanwhile, Shaun Kenny-Dowall was sin binned against Hull FC after a high tackle on Jake Clifford whilst Mikolaj Oledzki and Chris Atkin were involved in a brawl on Sunday.

So there were more than a few players waiting nervously for the disciplinary panel’s verdict and following the latest round of Betfred Super League fixtures, the Match Review Panel have issued five sanctions.

There are four players fined with Jai Whitbread and Brad O’Neill fined for dangerous contact.

Meanwhile, Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook is fined for a high tackle and Paul Seguier for a dangerous throw.

Unsurprisingly, the only ban comes from the clash between Leeds and Salford and is given to Oliver Partington for dangerous contact.

From the same game David Fusitu’a was given a caution for leading with the knee.

Below you can see the sanctions given out in full:

Oliver Partington (Salford Red Devils) – Grade B Dangerous Contact – 1 Match Penalty Notice
Jai Whitbread (Wakefield Trinity) – Grade B Dangerous Contact – ÂŁ250 Fine
Brad O’Neill (Wigan Warriors) – Grade A Dangerous Contact – ÂŁ250 Fine
Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook (St Helens) – Grade B High Tackle – ÂŁ250 Fine
