Five Super League signings that could happen in January

January is here and thus Super League is creeping closer.

This means that the Super League clubs with business still to do need to get it done as soon as possible.

So, here’s five signings that could happen in January.

Catalans Dragons sign a prop
After agreeing to the mutual release of Dylan Napa, the Dragons have looked to sign a prop to replace him. They came close to signing former Warrington Wolves and Salford Red Devils prop Ben Murdoch-Masila. However, he has joined St George Illawarra Dragons in 2023 so the Dragons are still looking for a prop and according to owner Bernard Guasch the Dragons are looking to sign a prop. This has been corroborated by coach Steve McNamara.

Leigh Leopards sign Wigan Warriors youngster
Umyla Hanley has been pictured training with Leigh Leopards in pre-season and the Wigan Warriors youngster will likely sign for the Leopards for 2023. He would replace help replace Leeds Rhinos Nene MacDonald and Blake Ferguson after he left on compassionate grounds.

Salford Red Devils fill out their quota spots
Salford Red Devils are the only other club asides from Catalans and Leigh with a quota spot open. It would be a real statement of intent if the Red Devils filled this spot with a quality signing.

Catalans Dragons sign a centre
The other position Catalans want to recruit in is a centre after the departure of Samisoni Langi to Wakefield Trinity and Dean Whare’s move to the Elite One Championship. They have signed Adam Keighran but they want another centre and have missed out on Featherstone Rovers centre Joey Leilua.

Leigh Leopards sign a prop
After Leigh confirmed their 10 major signings for the new season, their owner Derek Beaumont confirmed they were still interested in signing a middle and yesterday confirmed that the “plan” is to make further signings. So, expect Leigh to sign a prop possibly Dylan Napa though Jared Waerea-Hargreaves name as been mentioned by some.
