Five players returning from injury ready to take Super League by storm in 2023

A new season is a new beginning and it affords those who have had a difficult time of late a chance to right the wrongs of yesteryear.

That is true of some injured stars from 2022 who could shine in 2023.

So, here’s five of them.

Harry Newman – Leeds Rhinos
Newman is the obvious pick. On his day, Newman is perhaps one of the best players in Super League. He has power, pace and agility as well as brilliant skill. He is also a terrific defender despite being an amazing attacker.

Jordan Abdull – Hull KR
In 2021, Abdull shone brightly as the Robins made it all the way to the Super League semi-finals and he was in the running for the Man of Steel award. Hull KR missed him as he struggled with injuries in 2022.

Joe Cator – Hull FC
A great loose-forward, in fact another player who was absolutely outstanding in 2021 looking like one of the finest 13s in Super League. The ideal modern forward, it will be great to see him return to the fold.

Joe Philbin – Warrington Wolves
Another great modern forward, Joe Philbin brings great physicality and explosivity to the Warrington middles. He is a top forward.

Lewis Dodd – St Helens
A brilliant halfback, perhaps the best at the start of the 2022 season. Already a Super League Champion at his young age and a great player to watch. He has the potential to be one of the very best ever.
