Huddersfield Giants head coach Luke Robinson has revealed the full extent of the club’s injury problems as the Super League season nears. The Giants take on Bradford Bulls this afternoon in their first outing of 2025 with Robinson naming a young squad for the friendly clash.

New signings Tom Burgess and Liam Sutcliffe will be involved alongside a handful of first-team regulars. However, with injuries biting, Robinson has had to look to youth in order to fill out his squad for the visit of the Championship side with a number of key men sidelined.

The likes of Adam Clune, Leroy Cudjoe, Tui Lolohea, Zac Woolford and Kieran Rush will miss the friendly through injury and they aren’t all guaranteed to be fit for the start of the year.

“We haven’t had Adam Clune on the field yet with us,” the Huddersfield Giants head coach said, per the Yorkshire Post. “Tui will be alright for the start of the season but at the moment he’s injured so our main halves haven’t trained together yet, which has been a little bit difficult. Kieran Rush was slotting in there until he got injured. That’s only a week long.

“To compound matters, Leroy’s bone came out of his finger away on camp and there was a freakish accident with Zac where he stood on someone’s foot and rolled his ankle.

“Leroy and Tui should be back for the start of the year but Cluney is looking a bit more of a doubt. We’re crossing our fingers that Zac is back for round one or two.”

This weekend’s clash at the John Smith’s Stadium will be the first of two friendlies Huddersfield will play before the competitive action begins with a trip to Featherstone Rovers scheduled in on February 2.

Huddersfield will then travel to one of Lock Lane, Doncaster Toll Bar or Hunslet in the third round of the third round of the Challenge Cup before hosting Warrington Wolves in round one of Super League on February 16.
