Five clubs who could benefit the most from IMG’s re-imagining of Super League including Championship clubs who could get promoted

IMG are reimagining rugby league and including Super League.

They are set to bring back licencing which could see the strongest clubs exempt from relegation if they receive a Grade A licence.

Meanwhile, expansion clubs in the Championship could benefit if promoted based on licences. So, here are five clubs who could benefit the most from this re-imagining.

London Broncos
It has been said that IMG see the capital as vital to Super League’s future and thus London Broncos could be seen as a club vital to the future of the sport and therefore could soon be back in Super League as IMG look to grow the sport in the capital.

Newcastle Thunder
The strength of rugby league in Newcastle has been demonstrated in the recent times at Magic Weekends and of course the Rugby League World Cup. An expansion club pushing the sport in a new area which is something IMG seem keen on.

York RLFC
Like Newcastle, York are further a field from most other rugby league clubs which again will work in their favour. They have a good stadium and have shown ambition in the past. They too could be in the mix for Super League.

Bradford Bulls
A big club with huge history and a whole city behind them, they also have a new board member and therefore could develop the off field strength needed to impress IMG and be promoted to Super League.

Leeds Rhinos
In recent years, Leeds have at times had to worry about relegation but the changes suggested by IMG could ensure they no longer have to have these worries and can focus on developing a winning team after going what will be six years without Super League glory.
