Fiji vs Scotland records impressive attendance as Hull KR star gets try to remember

Yesterday Fiji secured their place in the World Cup quarter-finals as they look to at least make it to the semi-finals for the fourth consecutive tournament.
To do that, they will have to pull off similar heroics to the ones they produced in 2017 to defeat New Zealand as it is Michael Maguire’s number one ranked Kiwi side that the Fijians will face next week.
It wasn’t plain sailing for Fiji against Scotland who produced their best performance of the tournament in a 30-14 defeat with former Wigan Warriors target and now Halifax Panthers flyer Lachlan Walmsley getting a first World Cup try.
There was potentially a last try for Korbin Sims as well. The Hull KR star is set to retire at the end of the World Cup and he powered over for the last try of the game which could also be the last try of his career.
But how many fans were in attendance to see this moment for Sims.
Well, it was another attendance around the average which is 6,000.
In total, 6,736 fans watched the Fijians down Scotland in their final group game of the tournament.
This means that in total around 30,000 fans attended World Cup fixtures yesterday with 18,000 at Bramall Lane for England vs Greece and 5,500 at St Helens’ Totally Wicked Stadium for Australia vs Italy.
With three more World Cup games today, it will be interesting to see if the accumulative attendance compares nicely to the tally achieved in yesterday’s fixtures as the group stage draws to a close.
