Featherstone wrap up the future of two key players

Featherstone have built quite the squad in recent years despite being in the second tier and are subsequently one of the favourites for promotion in 2021.

But if they want to become a Super League side and cement themselves as a team associated with the top tier rather than the second, they need to keep their squad together which has been the focus of the Rovers in recent months.

Gareth Gale who was linked with a move to either Leeds or Wigan has subsequently signed an extension at Fev and plenty have followed suit since including two more today.

That’s right, this afternoon the Rovers announced contract extensions for Junior Moors and Tom Holmes.

The former Castleford duo both signed at the start of the season and promised to add a little bit of extra quality to the squad. Moors of course has played in a Grand Final as he featured for the Tigers in their Old Trafford defeat to Leeds in 2017 whilst Holmes also starred for Cas that season as they won the League Leaders’ Shield. He came up with a stunning showing at the Magic Weekend that season to down the Rhinos in Newcastle.

The pair have kicked on with Featherstone this campaign and have notably elevated the players around them. That’s especially true of Tom Holmes. He’s been battling with the likes of Dane Chisholm and Fa’amanu Brown all year culminating in some superb performances.

Thus, Fev have made a smart decision in typing them up to longer deals and maybe one day soon the duo will be playing in Super League in Fev’s famous blue shirt.
