Featherstone sign Samoan international

Featherstone Rovers have announced the signing of Samoan international Fa’amanu Brown for the rest of the 2020 season.

The halfback, who can also play at fullback and hooker, signs as a free agent after leaving Canterbury Bulldogs at the end of last season.

Rovers say the move was given a GBE (Governing Body Excerption), meaning the club could apply for his visa. The club say they are confident of acquiring it.

The move will also depend on the restart, with the prospect of promotion to the Super League a key factor in Brown joining the club.

Rovers Football Manager, Steve Gill said: “We are pleased to be able to bring a player of Nu Brown’s quality here to Featherstone. He can excel in a range of positions and I’m sure he will be a fan’s favourite here at Rovers.

“As a Club we have never given up hope, with the squad we have, of going one step further than last year. If and when the season does re-commence we want to be sure were are in the best possible position to give it our best shot.”
