Featherstone sign Castleford halfback

Featherstone have completed the signing of young Castleford halfback Jake Sweeting on a one-year deal.

The 20-year-old is yet to make his first team debut but has starred for the Tigers’ academy side in the past few years.

His move is similar to that of Rovers winger Jack Render, who was a regular feature in the side this season after making the same switch from the Castleford academy at the start of 2019.

Sweeting becomes Featherstone’s seventh new signing ahead of 2020, following Thomas Minns, Alec Susino, Dean Parata, Louis Jouffret, Ben Blackmore and Craig Hall.

“I’m looking forward to the year ahead not only for my development but for the team, he said. I’ll be joining a team that has some talented players so hopefully I can get my head down and cracked on and hopefully get a few opportunities to put on a Rovers shirt.

Players like Craig Hall and Dane Chisholm have a tonne of experience and I’m going to be looking at them and the rest of the team to help me develop as a player and bring my game on.”
