There’s all sorts of records knocking about these days, from top try scorer to biggest crowds, but one record which perhaps nobody even knew existed was broken at the weekend.
It was for the most amount of flat caps at a rugby league game which, for every team except Featherstone Rovers, wouldn’t really mean too much.
However, for the ‘Flat Cappers’ the accessory means a hell of a lot.
And, in true spirited fashion, the West Yorkshire club identified their game against Halifax Panthers – which thy ended up winning 54-22 – as the fixture where Rovers would break the record for the amount of flat caps at a rugby league game.
They eventually succeeded with an incredible 517 caps being adorned by the Featherstone faithful.
