Featherstone Rovers suffer devastating Mark Kheirallah blow

Mark Kheirallah #28 of Featherstone Rovers in action

Featherstone Rovers endured a tough afternoon at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final against Leigh Centurions.

The West Yorkshire side went down 30-16 as Leigh ran riot in the second-half with Edwin Ipape turning the screw in a triumphant manner.

For the Centurions’ last try, Sam Stone dotted down a Joe Mellor kick, but Featherstone’s Mark Kheirallah let the ball bounce in the in-goal area, failing to clear.

In that act, Kheirallah – who had been Featherstone’s best player up to that point – took a huge knock and limped off the field in anguish.

What consequences that might have for the rest of the season remains to be seen, but it didn’t look good for Brian McDermott’s men and rubbed salt into the wounds following the defeat.
