Featherstone Rovers’ season has been turned upside down in the last month.

They were top of the league with their only defeat coming against Catalans Dragons in the Challenge Cup and looked set to claim a second consecutive 1895 Cup but Leigh denied them in the capital before leapfrogging them in the table with a win over them at Leigh Sports Village.

Then the Rovers were shocked by defeat to Batley last week and were looking to get back on the right track against against Newcastle Thunder but have already been dealt a blow before kick off.

The Rovers were set to name Johnathon Ford at stand-off for his home debut for the club but has had to withdraw at the last minute with Brian McDermott being forced to stick with Morgan Smith and Ryley Jacks in the halves.

It’s not the news Featherstone needed tonight as they look to get back on track this season and it has been revealed that he is suffering with a groin injury.

There is a second appearance for the Rovers for former Rhino Jack Broadbent who debuted last week against a club he spent plenty of time on loan with in his younger years in the shape of Batley.

Another former Rhino in Luke Briscoe starts on the other wing.
