Featherstone Rovers star and ex-Super League man Connor Jones locks in club for 2023

Featherstone Rovers star and ex-Super League man Connor Jones has locked in his club for 2023.

Jones has arguably been one of Featherstone’s greatest players in the past few years after rejoining the West Yorkshire club back in 2020.

Now, he has committed to Rovers for next season as the club revealed on their social media page on Twitter after being linked with a move to the Newcastle Thunder.

“I’m really happy to announce that I’ve signed with the club for next season,” Jones said.

“I will be a Featherstone Rovers player for season 2023.”

That will be music to Rovers’ fans ears who have come to admire the style of rugby played by the wily hooker, with his rapidity out of dummy-half and great passing game going down a storm amongst the terraces at the Millennium Stadium.

Upon returning to the club back in 2019, Jones said: “I’m really excited to be coming back, I was with the club in 2019 and really enjoyed my time here. The club have put together a really strong squad for 2021 and I’m excited to be a part of it.

“I’m still at Salford until the end of the season so that’s where my sole focus will be in trying to get into the team there and if that’s not the case, helping the rest of the boys in training for the rest of the season.

“I’m a competitor so I want to play as much rugby as I can for the remainder of this year and once the season comes to an end I will start to prepare for pre-season with Featherstone.”

Even if Rovers do not earn promotion to Super League in 2022, they will be able to keep hold of Jones for another tilt at escaping the Championship in 2023.
