Featherstone Rovers sign Super League prop following two big injuries

Featherstone Rovers have bolstered their ranks ahead of a tough Championship run-in with a Super League prop

Rovers have completed the season long loan signing of Sam Eseh from Wakefield Trinity.

The prop will join up with Brian McDermott’s squad with immediate effect and will be available for Thursday’s bank holiday clash with Newcastle Thunder.

Eseh impressed McDermott when he featured for Barrow in their 1895 Cup Semi-Final loss to the Rovers earlier in the month.  “He’s a big powerful forward who caused us some problems when we played against him, it’s an area of the squad we’ve been keen to add to for some time and Sam is an intelligent solution.”

Rovers have been impacted by a double injury in the pack following Saturday’s 1895 Cup Final at Wembley with James Lockwod likely to miss the next month having broken his hand and Craig Kopczak also nursing an injury.

That made the 30-16 loss to Leigh Centurions even worse following a below par performance from the Championship leaders on a huge stage.

The loan agreement is until the end of the 2022 season with Wakefield retaining the right of recalling the player.
