Featherstone Rovers sign Super League hooker

Crowd trouble Featherstone

Featherstone Rovers have announced the return of Matty Wildie who joins the club on a one-year deal.

Wildie left the club in 2018, since then he has played in the Championship with Bradford Bulls as well as in Super League with Leigh Centurions.  Wildie will link up with new signings Ben Hellewell and Brandon Pickersgill, both of whom he has played with during that period.

Wildie can play hooker and either half position which will add to the flexibility of the team in 2022.  Wildie has made a total of 167 professional appearances including 49 during his previous spell at the club.

Speaking of his signing, Wildie commented; “I’m delighted, really enjoyed my time here last time, the fans are great, the club’s great, it’s got loads of ambition and they’re striving to be in Super League which is something I really want to be a part of.”

Ian Hardman, Football Manager added “Matty is a very experienced, talented performer whose versatility will prove a real asset for the Club in 22. Matty knows the Club very well and will fit into this environment immediately, so we are very fortunate to have him on board.”
