Featherstone Rovers sign Super League forward

Ben Hellewell has joined Featherstone Rovers, penning a one-year deal.

The Scotland international brings a wealth of experience from playing in both the Championship and in Super League having plied his trade at London Broncos, Leigh, Sheffield and of course a year with the Rovers in 2013/14 – and has most recently been with Leigh in Super League in 2021.

Now occupying the second-row position, he’s a proven winner, winning the 2018 Million pound game with London Broncos as well as the 1895 Cup with Sheffield in 2019.

Ian Hardman, Rovers’ Football Manager, said: “It’s great to welcome Ben back to the club.  Ben has a wealth of experience in both the Championship and Super League.  His work rate is excellent, being in the top 5 tackle makers in this year’s Super League.  Ben, like all the other new signings and retentions will give us the best possible chance of going one step further in 2022.”

Hellewell commented: “I’m looking forward to it, I enjoyed my time here before, I enjoyed every minute of it, so it was an easy decision for me to come back.  I watched some of their (Featherstone) games last year.”
