Featherstone Rovers have confirmed the release of one of their star signings whilst a League One club have also seen a player depart.

Championship outfit Featherstone have taken to social media to confirm that playmaker Zach Herring has left Rovers with immediate effect.

Herring, who had signed this off-season from Newcastle Knights, has been allowed to leave the club on compassionate grounds as confirmed in a very brief statement.

It read: “Club Statement | The Club can announce that unfortunately Zach Herring will be released from his contract with immediate effect on compassionate grounds. We wish Zach all the best for the future.”

Herring had signed for Featherstone in November with the Championship outfit setting about a very strong off-season of recruitment that also saw them sign ex-Super League men Carlos Tuimavave, Derrell Olpherts and Sitaleki Akauola.

All three of those players, and Herring, were involved in Featherstone’s win over Doncaster this past weekend but they’ve unfortunately since lost Herring.

Featherstone are not the only club to confirm the immediate release of a player with League One side Midlands Hurricanes confirming that Travis Corion has departed the club.

Corion, who had signed after leaving Dewsbury, scored three tries in just two games for the Hurricanes but they have released a brief statement explaining that the winger has left via mututal agreement.

That read: “We can confirm that we have granted a request by winger Travis Corion to be released from his contract effective immediately.

“Travis, 23, signed for the Canes during pre-season following his release from Dewsbury Rams and went on to make two appearances for the club namely our pre-season victory over Batley and our 1895 Cup First Preliminary Round victory over Whitehaven, scoring three tries in the process.

“Everybody at the Midlands Hurricanes would like to wish him well for the future.”
