Featherstone Rovers recall former player ahead of 2023 campaign

It’s been a busy few weeks for Featherstone in terms of recruitment and retention.

That’s despite the fact the Rovers have a semi-final to prepare for against West Yorkshire rivals Batley Bulldogs, one of the few sides to beat them this season, on Sunday with a place in the Million Pound Game up for grabs.

The Rovers are likely on a collision course with rivals Leigh Centurions in the Million Pound Game with the Centurions the favourites for promotion to Super League but this hasn’t affected the Rovers’ squad building for 2023 even though in what league they will be playing is certainly up in the air.

Featherstone have retained the likes of Luke Briscoe and Junior Moors for 2023 and have today announced a new signing in Brad Day.

A former Batley Bulldogs man, he started his career at Castleford in 2014 before making just shy of 100 appearances for Batley.

Then came his first move to Featherstone where he averaged an impressive amount of tries for a forward before joining full-time Newcastle.

However, the Thunder’s plight in 2022 has seen them step away from their full-time status perhaps influencing Day’s move back to Featherstone for 2023.

Whether he’ll be playing in the Super League next year or the Championship is still up in the air but it’s another exciting time for the forward thinking Rovers who, even if they miss out on promotion, will be in the mix for the next few years.
