Featherstone Rovers’ Mark Kheirallah gives update on injury

A few months ago everything was coming up Featherstone.

The Rovers were top of the Championship and unbeaten in the league their only loss coming against Super League side Catalans Dragons.

They also tempted two star players to their club in Johnathon Ford and Mark Kheirallah and booked their place in the 1895 Cup Final as they looked to retain their trophy.

However, they suffered defeat to rivals Leigh and have been on a bit of a spiral since losing to the Centurions in the league and subsequently handing over leadership of the table.

Things got worse when they suffered a shock home defeat to Batley – their first of the season – to allow Leigh to further take command at the top.

On Saturday they did enjoy a return to form in a big win over Newcastle but lost Johnathon Ford prior to the game due to a groin problem and Kheirallah was forced off after a heavy hit which resulted in a knee injury.

Today the fullback has had a scan on his knee and gave a short update on Instagram: “Quick update from me. On the weekend hurt me knee. I don’t know how bad it is but I just finished up having a scan.

“I’m in a brace and on crutches. Get my results this afternoon and take it from there and see what the next part of the journey is.”

So it seems Kheirallah could be out for a long time. Fortunately Featherstone have options with Craig Hall, Brandon Pickersgill and Jack Broadbent all on the payroll.
