Featherstone Rovers secured the signature of highly rated Welsh winger Kyle Evans ahead of the 2023 Betfred Championship Season as they confirmed on New Year’s Day.

Evans, 32, shone for Wales at last year’s Rugby League World Cup following a successful spell with Super League side Wakefield Trinity.

The Welshman hails from the fifteen-a-side code having played for Llanelli in the Welsh Premiership as well as Doncaster Knights in second tier of the English leagues.

Evans is eager to get going at Featherstone and his enthusiasm very clear, “I am very excited to play for Featherstone. They have provided an opportunity and share my ambition of playing in Super League, I’m determined to give it everything to reach that goal together.

“To be playing under the coaches such as Sean long and Leon Pryce is an opportunity not to be missed, I could not ask for a better environment in which to develop as a player.”

He is not the only player Featherstone have signed who played for Wales during the Rugby League World Cup.

Evans arrived after former Leigh Leopards fullback Caleb Aekins who has begun training this week.

Now the club have hinted that the two could make their debuts this weekend against Hull KR in Craig Hall’s testimonial in a game which could shed further light on what Sean Long’s first choice side could look like in 2023.

This came as they posted this on Twitter celebrating the Welsh contingent in their squad:
