Newcastle Thunder have moved to strengthen their squad with a trio of loan signings arriving at Kingston Park Stadium,
Callum Field arrives on Tyneside from Featherstone Rovers while Sadiq Adebiyi and Jack Croft come north from Wakefield Trinity, all on an initial two-week period.
A product of the Wigan Warriors academy, Field is a forward who can play anywhere in the pack and will boost Thunder’s options in the middles.
Making a total of 10 appearances for the Warriors between 2017 and 2018, he has experience of the second tier through stints with Swinton Lions, Dewsbury Rams and Leigh Centurions.
The 24-year-old has been part of the Rovers set-up since 2021and has made 38 appearances to date with four tries to his name.
He has shown himself to be a tough and uncompromising player with a strong-willed personality.
Adebiyi joined Trinity at the end of 2021 on a one-year deal having been part of the London Broncos set-up since the age of 15.
His time at the capital club including the Betfred Super League season in 2019 and adding his two appearances for the Yorkshire side this term, has played in 15 top-flight fixtures to date.
An enthusiastic player, it was his love of the game and desire to be part of an environment where he had the opportunity to grow that saw him become head-coach Willie Poching’s first signing at Belle Vue last October.
Joining team-mate Adebiyi, 21-year-old Croft arrives to give Thunder additional centre options.
Making 10 senior appearances for Trinity to date, he joined the club in 2017 and signed on first-team terms in 2018.
He was an on-loan player with Oldham in 2021 but had his season cut short after making an instant impression, following an ACL injury against Whitehaven.
A player who is strong in both attack and defence, Croft joins Thunder having spent the past three weeks on loan with Barrow Raiders, starting in the win away to Bradford and the losses to Featherstone and Halifax.
All three players have linked up with Thunder during this week’s training and are eligible for selection with immediate effect.
Director of Rugby Denis Betts said: “We’re delighted to welcome Callum, Sid and Jack to the club on loan. They are three quality players, and they are going to add to our group.
“We’ve been hit by some injuries of late and have also had players leave us for whom our full-time set-up turned out to not be for them and all of this has had an impact on our small squad
“Bringing these boys in on loan will allow us to navigate those challenges but also gives us the opportunity to showcase the club, what we are about and what we can offer to players which helps when we are looking to recruit additions to our squad.
“We’re looking forward to working with the players and for their time with us to be beneficial for everybody.”
