Featherstone Rovers fire shots at Wakefield Trinity following Super League claims

Yesterday’s friendlies didn’t throw up too many surprises, but one result particularly stood out.

Featherstone Rovers have been knocking on the door for Super League promotion for over a decade, but they appear confident of finally blowing that door open – and, if their friendly performance against Wakefield Trinity is anything to go by, it will be blown clean off its hinges.

Rovers dominated throughout, eventually running out 22-18 winners courtesy of Ben Hardcastle, Craig Kopczak, Craig Hall and Morgan Smith efforts – the latter in particular was a fantastic score with the halfback kicking through for himself and dotting down.

At one point during the second-half, Trinity’s social media stated that Wakefield had been turning the screw with Super League superiority kicking in.

But, you would have been forgiven in thinking that Rovers themselves were a Super League side with a dominant performance – and their social media account certainly let their Wakefield counterparts know about it with a little dig in good taste.

Featherstone posted:  “SuPeR LeAgUe SuPeRiOriTy… *Deleted Tweet*” as Trinity bore the brunt.

It’s not the first time that a Super League side has almost come unstuck at the Millennium Stadium, with Leeds Rhinos only being able to overcome Rovers by 30-22 in their own friendly last weekend.
