Featherstone Rovers have announced the departure of Ryley Jacks.
The Australian halfback joined the club ahead of the 2022 season as they chased promotion and was joined by Jonathan Ford in the halves.
However, after one year, Jacks is headed back home and bid farewell to the club with the following statement: “I want to thank everyone at the club for giving me the opportunity to go over and play in England. It has been one of the most enjoyable experiences for me and my young family. I was lucky to come over to a club where the playing group as so welcoming and the fans are so passionate. The memories I made will stay with me forever and I wish the club all the best in 2023.”
Featherstone made the following statement themselves:
“Featherstone Rovers can today announce the departure of halfback Ryley Jacks as he heads back home to Australia.
“Thank you for your efforts and all the best, Ryley.”
Jacks becomes the second halfback to leave the Rovers going into 2023 after Morgan Smith headed to Wakefield Trinity for next season.
Perhaps new coach Sean Long could consider a move for former Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC halfback Luke Gale with whom Long worked with at Headingley.
Whoever plays in the halves for Fev next year will do so working alongside some great coaches on Long and his former halfback partner Leon Pryce.
