Featherstone have announced another major signing in the shape of Jonathon Ford.
The former Toulouse skipper and halfback guided the French club to an unbeaten season in 2021 and promotion before a dispute behind closed doors, likely due to the vaccine, led to his departure alongside Mark Kheirallah before Toulouse could begin their first Super League crusade.
Kheirallah recently joined Featherstone – who Toulouse beat to secure promotion last season – and his former skipper Ford has followed him to the club as the Rovers look to go one better than last season.
It’s a curious signing with Featherstone having already signed Ryley Jacks this season with Dane Chisholm, Morgan Smith and Tom Holmes all already contracted to the club as well.
But his experience of securing promotion will be central to Featherstone’s pursuits as they face a fight with a star-studded Leigh side who were rumoured to also have an interest in Ford.
The Rovers should be credited for securing his signature but also for the way they announced it with a superb and comical video.
