Getting into Super League is the aim of any Championship side going into the season.
For Featherstone Rovers and Leigh Centurions, 2022 has been a head to head race in a bid to make the promised land for 2023 with the likes of Mark Kheirallah and Blake Ferguson making big moves to the respective pair.
And, Rovers and Centurions are not finished there, according to Bradford Bulls reporter The Game Caller.
“We know how competitive Mark Campbell and Derek Beaumont are,” The Game Caller said on Show Me The Money Rugby League podcast.
“It’s like an arms race and we know Featherstone still have another big one to come in and Derek is saying there is still another big one coming from the NRL.”
It remains to be seen who the big names are, but the spending spree of Featherstone and Leigh have ensured that the Championship is a two-horse race as both vie to earn promotion.
Whilst Rovers are unbeaten in the second tier, the Centurions have lost one game – and that was to Featherstone – but they met at the 1895 AB Sundecks Final where Leigh overcame Featherstone with relative ease, 30-16.
Now, the two teams will once more play each other on Monday in the league.

Would love to see the wage spending for players, with these two clubs, they seem to have more players than some Super League clubs have! We often talked about levelling up in the game, this season The Championship has sadly become a two club race so early!
