Promising Featherstone forward signs new deal

Young Featherstone forward Jimmy Beckett has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The youngster joined the club from Castleford ahead of last season, making two appearances as well as spending time on loan at Keighley and Oldham, and helping the latter achieve promotion to the Championship.

He re-joined the Roughyeds on loan at the start of 2020, before returning to play in Rovers’ 46-6 Challenge Cup win over Hunslet.

He told Featherstone’s official club website: “I’m over the moon to have signed an extension with Featherstone, it gives me an opportunity to try and force my way into the first-team either this season, if it returns, or in 2021.

“It also shows that the club has faith in me, which means a lot to me as a local lad. I’m really looking forward to being able to show the Rovers fans what I can do out on the pitch.”
