Featherstone re-sign hooker

Featherstone Rovers have confirmed the re-signing of Connor Jones from Salford Red Devils for the 2021 season.

Jones arrived at the Millenium Stadium halfway through the 2019 season from Australian side Northern Pride.

He helped the club get all the way to playoff final, which saw them just 80 minutes away from the Super League. However, they were beaten by Toronto Wolfpack.

Jones then signed for Salford, and has made four appearances for the Challenge Cup Finalists.

Speaking on the move, Jones said: “I’m really excited to be coming back, I was with the club in 2019 and really enjoyed my time here. The club have put together a really strong squad for 2021 and I’m excited to be a part of it.

“I’m still at Salford until the end of the season so that’s where my sole focus will be in trying to get into the team there and if that’s not the case, helping the rest of the boys in training for the rest of the season.

“I’m a competitor so I want to play as much rugby as I can for the remainder of this year and once the season comes to an end I will start to prepare for pre-season with Featherstone.”

Rovers’ Head Coach James Webster added: “I am really pleased that Connor has decided to re-join the club. He made a huge impact in the run to the grand final in 2019.

“We felt we were a little light in competition for the hooker spot this year with just Dean Parata so his inclusion will add competition and depth in what is an extremely important position.”
