Featherstone make Super League signing

Featherstone Rovers have signed Wakefield Trinity fullback Alex Walker on loan until the end of the season.

The terms of the agreement mean that Walker will be unavailable for recall from his parent club and will remain with the Rovers for the remainder of the 2021 season.

Originally from Harlow in Essex, Walker began his rugby league career with the London Broncos academy, making his debut for the first team in 2014.

In 2016 he spent time on loan with both London Skolars and Hemel Stags before fully establishing himself as a starter in Andrew Henderson and later, Danny Ward’s Broncos sides.

He signed for Wakefield in 2020 and joins the Rovers having made 10 appearances for Trinity.

Speaking of joining Featherstone, Walker said: ‘’I’m excited and really looking forward to getting started with the boys, I’m fortunate to have had the experience of gaining promotion to Super League with London Bronco and hope that experience can help get Fev to Super League this year.’’

Ian Hardman, Rovers’ Football Manager said: ‘’Alex is an exciting player that will fit into the squad well and add options to our backline, he also has the benefit of experience in helping London Broncos gain promotion through the playoffs, a feat we hope to emulate later this year.’’

Walker will be available for selection ahead of Featherstone’s away fixture at Batley this weekend.
