Fans rage over Man of Steel votes

Supporters have reacted furiously to the latest round of Man of Steel points.

This season sees a new Man of Steel panel consisting of 21 former players and coaches, with one panel member assigned to a game each game and tasked with awarding points to the three outstanding performers.

The scores will be made public every week, until Round 22 in mid-July. After that, the poll will be hidden until the Awards Ceremony in October.

On the whole the new format has received positive feedback, however this Monday’s scores have left many questioning the system going forward.

Jake Connor’s excellent display at Castleford on Thursday failed to be recognised with even a single point, a decision which left Hull fans scathing.

Wigan supporters were also not best pleased as two Leeds players, Trent Merrin and Brad Dwyer, were named in the top three despite their win at Headingley.

Then followers of St Helens were angered by Lachlan Coote’s omission, the full-back scored one try and assisted four but failed to make the top three.
