Fans in unison as Hull FC put in season worst performance

Hull FC fell to a whopping 68-6 defeat against Leeds Rhinos last night in a new low in their torrid season and the fans have had their say.

The Rhinos ran in ten tries with teenager Alfie Edgell scoring four as the Black and Whites put in another sorry performance on the road, marking the fourth time that they have had 50 or more points scored on them.

Three of the four occasions that Hull FC have shipped 50 points came during a four-game spell that resulted in Tony Smith’s sacking. After that period they had become more resilient but recent weeks have seen Simon Grix’s side revert back to previous issues.

After their Magic Weekend loss against London Broncos, he slammed his players for a ‘Championship-level’ performance but last night’s defeat was by far the worst of the season.

It’s led to yet more uproar from Hull FC fans and understandably so but there has even been backlash from Leigh Leopards’ owner Derek Beaumont who labelled the performance a disgrace and the decision to relegate London as ‘an embarrassment’.

Meanwhile, Hull FC fans have reacted just as passionately about the demise of their own club with questions about pride being asked of the players.

One fan reacted on X, asking: “Absolutely disgraceful !!! Where’s the pride in Hull FC!!”

A London Broncos fan also took aim, echoing what Derek Beaumont said, as they posted: “Hull FC may just be the worst Super League side I’ve ever seen! We took Leeds to golden point last week for the second time this season! This is men against boys! If we finish above them and we go down it will be beyond embarrassing!”

For FC fans the fact that their rivals were contesting a top-of-the-table battle added insult to injury, although they may be taking some solace after the Robins lost 24-20 to Wigan.

One fan called it the “darkest day” that they had witnessed as a fan of the Black and Whites, arguing it was “not helped by the fact across the river they’re battling for top spot”.

“Worst Hull team I’ve seen in almost 40 years”, were the thoughts of another fan.

Pride was again questioned, as was the decision for season pass prices to be increased.

Commenting on Serious About Rugby League’s match report, one fan on Facebook said: “I think we should be relegated. We don’t belong in the Super League playing that all season. Wtf is going on and having a Championship manager, that’s what you are going to get.”

Another harked back to Beaumont’s comments, stating: “This is what you get when you take away promotion and relegation. FC aren’t even having a go, it’s embarrassing.”

The Black and Whites will take on Salford Red Devils next week before hosting Catalans Dragons in Round 27 as they look to end what has been a woeful season.
