Salford Red Devils sadly confirmed the devastating the passing of former skipper Malcolm Alker.
The club confirmed the passing of Alker on Sunday at the age of just 45 resulting in tributes from across the sport from clubs like Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC as well as players such as Keith Mason and Jackson Hastings.
Alker started his career with Salford in 1997 at the Willows and ended it there too in 2010. He played over 300 games for the club between Super League and the Championship and also represented England and Lancashire before retirement.
After retirement, Alker joined the club as a coach and even enjoyed a stint in charge of the club when Shaun McRae was taken ill.
He is a legend at Salford and will certainly be missed by everyone involved at the club and the wider sport. The thoughts of Serious About Rugby League are with them at this time.
