Exclusive: World Cup star opens up on “stressful” search for new club after Super League departure from Wakefield Trinity

Kyle Evans was a bit of a surprise find for Wakefield Trinity in 2022.
The winger made a big impression scoring on debut after making the switch to rugby league and showed he had all the major attributes to be a successful modern winger with power, pace and athleticism.
These saw him called up for Wales in the Rugby League World Cup where he impressed especially against one of the favourites for glory against Tonga as he showed great defence and scored an amazing try.
After that game many, including Wales and Widnes Vikings boss John Kear, questioned why Wakefield hadn’t re-signed him.
Remarkably, Evans is still looking for a new club despite impressing at Wakefield and Wales.
Speaking exclusively to Serious About Rugby League, he revealed how stressful it has been for him looking for a new club:
“I’m still waiting to get a club and hear back from people. It’s a really stressful time for me going from playing in super league and the World Cup to now not having a club.
“It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions if I’m being honest, but I’m just trying to remain positive at the moment.
“The World Cup was an amazing experience for me and i remain proud of the performances I put in after only playing rugby league for a short amount of time, and I hoped it would be enough to secure a club moving forward so to now be without a club has been initially tough to deal with as I would have liked to get straight back and have a good pre-season going forward.”
