Exclusive: Wigan Warriors star Bevan French set to appear on popular TV coverage of play-off clash

Wigan Warriors’ Bevan French can seemingly do anything and everything.

Whether it’s on the field or off it, the man is a talent and now he is set to appear on television with a microphone for the first time.

That’s because Serious About Rugby League can reveal that French will be part of the Channel 4 team as Huddersfield Giants take on Salford Red Devils this Saturday afternoon.

With the TV program coming on at 12.30pm, viewers will be able to hear the Wigan star’s thoughts on both sides as well as the Super League season as a whole, with the Warriors not playing until the week after.

Wigan, and, French, could come up against the winners of Catalans Dragons and Leeds Rhinos – a game which will take place on Friday night. Whilst a game against Huddersfield is also on the cards should the Giants win. If Salford win however, the Warriors will officially meet either the Dragons or the Rhinos.

So, by the end of Saturday’s game French will know his semi-final opponent and it should be interesting to see what he has to say on them as the coverage draws to a close.

Channel 4 coverage itself has been lauded by all those who have come into contact with the terrestrial provider, with its witty hosts and pundits as well as incredibly well thought out previews and analysis ticking all the boxes for those that don’t have Sky Sports.

And, Channel 4 is also set to come up against its greatest challenge this weekend too with the two providers set to clash in terms of coverage of Huddersfield’s battle with Salford at the John Smith’s Stadium.

That means that it will be incredibly intriguing to see which provider comes out on top for the average viewings as well as the one minute high.

Not only will Channel 4 get this week’s elimination play-off, but the terrestrial program will also be given a semi-final next week for the first time ever.

It will be interesting to see how French fares with the microphone, but if he talks as well as he plays then we will have a pure winner on our hands.
