Exclusive: Warrington Wolves star talks about ‘interest’ from other Super League clubs

Danny Walker has carved out a reputation for himself as a tough and tenacious number nine.

After moving to the Warrington Wolves ahead of the 2019 Super League season, Walker had to be patient to get his chance behind star Daryl Clark.

The 22-year-old has made 35 appearances for the Wolves in three seasons, scoring five tries, but looked to establish himself under what turned out to be Steve Price’s last year in charge of the Wire.

Walker was out of contract at the end of the 2021 season, but signed a one-year extension with the club in June to extend his stay to four years.

And, that was an easy decision for the hooker to make despite there being interest from other Super League clubs.

“I’ve had a few clubs show a bit of interest, but it’s all just interest and no full offers,” Walker revealed to Serious About Rugby League.

“My agent spoke to me and said this team and that team wants to speak to you, but last year I spoke with Warrington and I only ever wanted to stay here.

“I had a few other opportunities but I only ever spoke to Warrington because I’m a Warrington lad and hopefully I can be the number 9 at Warrington in the future.”

It’s a new era for the Wolves as head coach Daryl Powell takes over from the outgoing Steve Price.
