Exclusive: Update on ex-Huddersfield Giants and England star’s transfer situation

Dom Young has been one of the most talked about players since the first game of the Rugby League World Cup.

He burst into the international scene with his test debut in the opening game against Samoa at St James’ Park scoring two world class tries to light up Newcastle.

Young scored nine tries in the tournament as a whole including four in 40 minutes against Greece.

This only further sparked the interest surrounding the former Huddersfield Giants youngster.

Young currently plies his trade with Newcastle Knights in the NRL and has developed into a world class winger whilst there.

He scored tries for fun during the 2022 season but is now entering the last 12 months of his current deal.

This means that since the 1st November rival clubs have been able to negotiate with him.

There have been reports that five Sydney based clubs have been interested in him whilst Serious About Rugby League previously revealed interest from the Dolphins and the Melbourne Storm.

His agent has met with the Knights who conveyed their hope of keeping him but no numbers have been discussed and the ongoing saga with the unknown salary cap of the future may be part of the reason why.

However, Serious About Rugby League understands that Young is no closer to agreeing a move away.

Work is being done behind the scenes by all those who need to but a decision on his future will be made at a later date.

Right now he is no doubt enjoying a deserved break after the World Cup.
