Exclusive: Stefan Ratchford talks honestly about his future following ten years at Warrington

Stefan Ratchford has almost become part of the furniture at the Warrington Wolves since his move from the Salford Red Devils ahead of the 2012 Super League season.

Wind the clock forward to 2021 and Ratchford has been granted a testimonial by the RFL for his decade-long service with the Wolves, but staying at one club for such a long time is often unheard of in the modern game.

And, for the England playmaker, it came as a surprise to him too.

“It’s been a bit bizarre to be honest,” Ratchford told Serious About Rugby League.

“When I left Salford and I came to Warrington, I signed a three-year deal to start with, but even coming then and signing that I was thinking would I stay here for one year or two years?

“But to be here ten seasons, it doesn’t seem like it’s being that long at all and I’m enjoying every minute of being here.”

For Ratchford, who has played 263 games for the Wire, scoring 84 tries and kicking 390 goals as well as two drop-goals, told Serious About Rugby League that once his testimonial year is over with, he wants to get his future sorted at Warrington.

“You don’t expect to be at one place for so long and I thought they might have got bored of me by now!

“There are no plans to finish anytime soon either so once my testimonial is done, hopefully I’ve still got a few years left here as well.”
