Exclusive: Kane Linnett talks about his future, time at Hull KR and relationship with Tony Smith

Kane Linnett has become a firm fans’ favourite at Hull KR since moving ahead of the 2019 Super League season.

The so-called ‘Big Red Machine’ has scored 25 tries in 66 appearances since swapping the shores of Australia for the shores of East Hull and he has revealed just how happy he is.

“I’ve really enjoyed it over here, I’ve got my family over here now and I’m enjoying my footy,” Linnett told Serious About Rugby League.

“We did a bit of travelling for the first year so overall it’s been a good experience.”

With Linnett’s contract running out at the end of the season, eyes have been twitching to see whether or not the 33-year-old will put pen to paper on another deal at Craven Park.

“As long as I’m still playing good football and my body allows it, I will continue.

“I’ve got two little boys, one was born in the UK and hopefully he will see me play and grow up.”

After a stellar 2021 season, where Hull KR managed to make it all the way to the play-off semi-finals, Linnett is keen to see his side go one further in 2022.

“I would like to become a more consistent football team; last year we were a bit inconsistent but we need to go one further and go to win a trophy.”

Working with former Warrington Wolves and Leeds Rhinos head coach Tony Smith has also been fruitful for Linnett.

“I’ve really enjoyed it, he’s a great people person and I’ve got a good relationship with him.

“I feel like he’s got the best out of me and all the boys are in the same boat, we are a close bunch of players and we’ve got a good team here.”
