Exclusive: Jack Hughes opens up on his future, interest from other clubs and time at Warrington

Jack Hughes is a name that appears to have been around almost forever.

Since coming through the ranks at the Wigan Warriors back in 2011, Hughes has played nearly 300 career games.

After 74 appearances and numerous loan spells from Wigan, the 30-year-old hit it off at the Huddersfield Giants in 2015, playing 31 games in a season-long loan.

He impressed so much in that year that Warrington Wolves picked him permanently, with the Halliwell Jones the destination where Hughes has arguably played the best rugby of his career.

And, it’s that spell at Huddersfield that he believes set him up for his career high at Warrington.

“It was playing for the Giants in 2015 that I felt like I became an established Super League player,” Hughes told Serious About Rugby League.

“Since then I have been able to play at a consistent level which has allowed me to enjoy a long period of time at Warrington.”

Hughes has played almost 150 games for the Wolves in six seasons, but is out of contract at the end of the 2022 Super League season.

“I have thought about it but not that much, all contracts must come to an end and it’s up to me to do the talking on the field.”

Being such a reliable and tough competitor, you would have thought that numerous clubs would have been interested in him before, but Hughes revealed that his concentration has been firmly focused on Warrington since joining.

“No other clubs have approached me since I was off contract in 2015 and playing for Huddersfield.”
