Exclusive: Is Warrington Wolves’ Daryl Clark heading to a Super League rival?

Daryl Clark has been one of the top performing hookers in Super League for a decade.

Since debuting as a teenager for Castleford Tigers in 2011, Clark has gone on to carve out a stirring reputation for himself winning England caps in the process.

But, with his deal running out at the end of the 2023 season, the 29-year-old has confessed that nothing has been said about anything beyond that just yet.

“As of right now, next year is my last year on my contract with Warrington so I don’t know where I will be after that,” Clark admitted to Serious About Rugby League.

“I’ve had no discussions or talks about a new deal as the minute so I’ll be going into my last year and hopefully I’m playing well and I will see what happens.”

Of course, Warrington’s form has been nothing to shout about in 2022 so far, winning just seven from 18 games to sit in ninth in the Super League table.

Clark, however, is unsure about why that has happened under new head coach Daryl Powell – who took the reins from Steve Price going into the 2023 season.

“I’m not too sure (why it has happened) sometimes new ideas and a new style of play can take time to click.

“There’s been a bit of change in players coming and going and obviously a new coaching team but I still think the top six is there for us if we can get our stuff together going into the last few games.”

That being said, the Yorkshireman is enjoying his time under his former coach despite the lack of good results.

“I’m enjoying it, obviously it has been tough the way performances have been going for us.

“However, the boys and staff are working hard to try and it turn around.”

Warrington’s next fixture sees them take on Wigan Warriors tomorrow night as Powell’s men attempt to claw away from the bottom two.
