Exclusive: Hull KR forward targeted by Super League and Championship clubs

Frankie Halton’s rise through the ranks has been meteoric to say the least.

After playing a key role in his debut season for the Swinton Lions in 2020 – making over 20 appearances and earning a call-up to the Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifiers – Halton was captured by the Featherstone Rovers ahead of the 2021 Championship season.

Excelling out wide for Rovers, Halton came onto the radar of many Super League clubs and others in the Championship, but he had his sights set on Hull KR.

“I had a bit of interest off Championship teams and another Super League club but nothing formal was tabled before signing for KR,” Halton told Serious About Rugby League.

“As soon as I went and met Tony Smith and Danny McGuire I feel like i was only going to go to KR.”

That meeting with Smith and McGuire convinced Halton to make the trip to East Hull and he is excited about the prospect of being a Robin.

“After meeting for coffee with Tony & Danny we just talked about rugby, his philosophies and where the club was heading and it was a no brainer for me.

“They’ve improved a lot the last two seasons and finished really well this year so I’m buzzing it be apart of it and can’t wait to get started.”

Halton will be aiming for gametime in a squad that went all the way to the Super League semi-finals in 2021.
