Exclusive: Hull FC’s Josh Griffin responds to speculation of a potential move and opens up on playing under Brett Hodgson

Josh Griffin has found a home at Hull FC since making the move back in 2017.

Before that year, the powerful centre had played for five different clubs including Wakefield Trinity, Castleford Tigers and Batley Bulldogs.

But, it has been at the MKM Stadium where Griffin has made his name.

That being said, there is always speculation surrounding potential moves for players when they are not getting played as much and the 32-year-old believes that is why his name is being bandied about.

“Obviously I was sat on the bench for a number of weeks and someone probably thought I would become available,” Griffin told Serious About Rugby League.

“I’ve never heard anything personally.”

At 32, Griffin is coming into the twilight of his career, but the Oxfordshire born centre wants to see himself retire at the MKM Stadium with Hull.

“I’ve not looked too far into the future, but I will be 33 at the end of my current contract so I will decide then what my plans are.

“I like to think I will retire from Super League at Hull though.”

Of course, Griffin has been working under Brett Hodgson for the pst two seasons and he is loving every moment working under him.

“Brett Hodgson is a very smart coach and was a great player so he knows a great deal about playing rugby league.

“It’s been great to learn from him.”

The Black and Whites have not exactly been pulling up trees in recent weeks following a big defeat to Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers.

“We’ve had a torrid time with injuries recently but I think we are lacking confidence.

“We need to find out identity again and put some wins together.”

Putting those wins together will start against Toulouse Olympique on Friday night in the south of France.
