Jamie Shaul is Hull through-and-through.
From signing as a youngster right the way through to a 29-year-old, Shaul lives and breathes the Black and Whites.
But, the electric fullback faced an uncertain period when he ruptured his ACL towards the back end of the 2020 Super League season.
Returning to action at the end of 2021, Shaul is hoping that all of those problems are now over.
“My ACL is great and as strong as it can be,” Shaul told Serious About Rugby League.
“I don’t ever think about it now.”
With Jake Connor taking the number one spot under head coach Brett Hodgson, Shaul also faced uncertainty on the field and has revealed that a fresh start would be equally as appealing as retiring at Hull.
“It would be nice to retire as a one club man and at the team I supported as a kid.
“But, I also think a fresh start at a different club would be very exciting.
Like most rugby league players, the number one is also planning for life after the sport, and, having already done an apprenticeship, is raring to go once he retires.
“I am a bricklayer by trade; I didn’t come into full time rugby until I was 19 so I served my time as an apprentice before I went full time at Hull.
“It’s something I’ve always kept doing while playing and I have just built my own extension on my house during the off-season.
“Bricklaying is what I will do when I retire – I’m quite lucky to have a trade behind me and something I can slot into when my time as a professional rugby player finishes.”
