Huddersfield Giants hooker Adam O’Brien has been at the West Yorkshire club since 2017.
In that time, O’Brien has worked under three permanent coaches – Rick Stone, Simon Woolford and Ian Watson.
But, in working under Watson – who famously coached the Salford Red Devils to a Super League Grand Final as well as a Challenge Cup Final – O’Brien has seen a great deal of changes implemented in order to improve the side.
“It’s been good working under Ian,” O’Brien told Serious About Rugby League.
“He has brought a lot of new things here; the culture and players, the detail and depth of the game.
“Last year we struggled with injuries and didn’t have our best 17 in week in week out, though, having said that the players that stepped in did a great job.”
The 28-year-old former Bradford Bulls star confessed that new coaches need time to embed into their new surroundings.
“Everyone had a big expectation of Ian after coming from Salford where he got them to two finals.
“But it takes a couple of years for players and coaches to settle.
“Having said that, I think we will have a big year and I’m really looking forward to it.
“Bringing in Danny Levi means there is healthy competition for me and it will only make us better.”r
